Can any One can explain me about directorie

Hi every one of dp members I am new to this forum i want to know about directories. Please i request some one to help me about directories . why it is created and what for it works and how to work on directories please explain me.if suppose there will be any notes for it please tell

 

directory, as the the says itself..its the same sort as you have telephone directory at home, similarly web directory maintains a list of websites under several catogories..& every website is listed at its concerned category...it is made for business by many folks as the more PR (PAGE RANK) the directory has the more it will cost you to submit your link..thts all
