Can an AdSense Secrets Book be Worth the Money?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by Ajeet, Mar 20, 2005.

    Hi,

I guess I am being driven by greed here, but I am tempted to buy Joel Comm's Google Adsense book. Has anyone read it (and would like to mail me a preview copy :p )?

In general there are so many books out there claiming to teach you AdSense secrets. For those who have invested in these ebooks, do you find anything beyond the most common sense stuff on keyword selection, ad-unit selection, ad location, keep experimenting and tracking etc?

    Thanks
    Ajeet

Not really, you can get more ADSENSE secrets by doing keyword searches on any SEO or webmaster forum that has good threads on the subject.

I would not give anyone a dime for an SEO Book or an ADSENSE book.

Just buy them at the flea market later rather than pay full price man...

Yep, I've read it. I was very disappointed in the lack of content and the extremely basic nature of the material contained.

My advice is to forget the $80 book and read around the forums and the free articles which are in plentiful supply about Adsense.

If, however, you are determined to buy it, do please let me know so I can throw in a clickbank affiliate link :p

I've read it - as a heavy use of Adsense I didn't learn a lot of new things - however I found that it was a good refresher and it did remind me of one thing that I'd not tried which since implementing it has probably paid for the book for me numerous times over.

I'd say its worth a read if you're a beginner and want all the information in the one place - but if you're doing ok with Adsense already you probably know most of it and can pick up the information in forums or on other websites. I think I've probably written most of the tips myself at one time or another on my different sites or in forums so you can track most of it down around the place. The only advantage of the book is that its all in the one place.

Most of my 'secrets' are in this category of my blog. I also wrote an 8 part series on Adsense for Bloggers (thats just the first part, the other parts are linked to at the bottom of that post). They are written for bloggers - but I guess most of it is applicable for others).

I'm not pretending I know it all or that these are 'the' way to make money from Adsense, but its how I got up to a five figure income with it per month. Take it or leave it if you want. Hope it helps someone. Let me know what you'd add or subtract if you want.

That page is important - but so are the others before it. High paying keywords are useless if you don't position them right or have any traffic.

Like I write in the posts - its an equation that doesn't work unless you work on all the areas. Some people just work on getting high paying ads and forget about the other elements. Its about a holistic approach IMHO.

So the moral - if you are experienced and know everything in my 8 posts on it you probably won't learn too much more (although like I said before there are a few things in it I don't write about) - if you're a beginner and want a good clear explanation of how to make money from Adsense with some tips that will work - go buy it (but do it after clicking an affiliate link for it on ProBlogger :) )

I'm new here, but I say forget the book. I have learned more here in the last 2 days than I ever would have in spending $80 for some over-priced "secrets" book

I wish i had read this thread 12 hours sooner. Oh well. I did get some good tips. I also learned that if I want to go into real estate or law that I'd have some highpaying keywords. What FUN!

Yes, I did buy the book, but I'm still a newbie. Thats my excuse. Anyway, I learned a few things without having to do a lot of searching for this info. My time is very valuable with 2 little ones.

Anyway, it came with a newsletter subscription and there was a cool tool included that lets you check your stats from your system tray. I'm pasting the email below.

    Here's the email.
