Can Adsense help me increase my site's traffic?

I am a total newbie as you can read in the title of my post. Can anyone confirm this to me? I am planning to get Adsense with the belief that it can increase traffic to my site. Is this really the case? Thanks in advance!

I have read that it can help with spidering your site because the AdSense spiders your site each time a visitor lands on the page so it knows what ads to display and I read somewhere that Google uses this spider information as it gives a number of details about the content of your page etc...

Not sure from my own experience though as I have not tested this my self.

 

Actually you probably do better with Adwords to increase your site traffic. Adsense makes use of your traffic in order to gain you income.

I think you meant Adwords not Adsense. Adsense does not bring any increase in traffic
