I've stopped using adsense alltogether as it not opening in a new window is a traffic killer for me, is there a way around this?

It's against their TOS to have it open in another window.

    How does one do that?

If its based on my results that is stupid, I would integrate more if users weren't taken away from my site for a few nickels (low -ev for me)

You need 10 million plus page views per month to even qualify - and then adsense has to approve your format.

I dont understand googles logic on this, even I as a web surfer have learned that if I don't want to lose the page I'm currently viewing I just don't click on the ad and manually type in the advertised url....a loss to both google and the publisher!

I imagine it can be made, but for sure it´s against the TOS.

I guess google wants to have the person clicking the ad to have full focus on the page of advertiser

You cannot edit the code in anyway, it will go against the TOS
