Can a very specific keyword-rich domain name negatively effect search rankings?

Can a domain name with very specific keywords have a negative effect on a site's rankings for broader search terms?

To give a very simple example, if a site has the domain name beatlessongsmp3s.com, there's a good chance it would rank reasonably well for the search phrase "beatles songs mp3s". But would it rank as well for the search phrase "beatles"? Probably not, correct? Does the "songs mp3s" keyword in the domain therefore negatively impact the site's search ranking for the broader search term "beatles"?

If so, is the effect negligible and offset by too many other SEO factors to really matter? Or is there good reason to avoid a very specific keyword-rich domain if your main goal is to rank well for broader matches?

I think the answer to this question may be obvious, but I'd like to hear some experienced opinions about it to either confirm or deny my best guess. Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide.

no its not effect on ranking bcz you site already related for MP3 songs, Movie etc... so if your domain is beatlessongsmp3s.com so its great bcz if any person can search in google so he use mp3 word each and every time and your domain have mp3 word so its good and any person can view your URL and he read mp3 word so he easily understand your site related to entertainment so you got visitor.

if you have a website with your name like kirkbride.com and you want to promote it for web design keywords then it will have the rankings........if you have the rankings in google for beatless songs and your domain have the keywords songs then you can get higher rankings for songs keywords also...

There won't be any negative effect from having a heavily keyword focused domain, however it won't do much for brand building or trust but it depends what your aims are. If you are looking to make a quick buck then sure, keyword heavy make sense, however if you are in this for the longer game and want to build a sustainable business and brand I'd look for something more memorable and unique rather than a "buy" or "online" modified keyword.
