Can a subfolder's page of the site be indexed and ranked by Google?

I want to promote certain services and place info about them in pages in subfolder of the main site, i.e.
    http://mysite.com/subfolder/sub-subfolder/

the main subpage (which opens after clicking the link above) has now PR 3 only due to internal structure of the site, and there are no backlinks to it yet.

Now I am exchanging links for this page and tried this command in Google
    link:mysite.com/subfolder/sub-subfolder/

It returned nothing. Then I tried link:mysite.com/subfolder/sub-subfolder/index.php and it showed 3 sites pages linked to it.
But this page http://mysite.com/subfolder/sub-subfolder/index.php has PR 0!

What should I do? How to make this page ranked well without loosing 3 points of PR if adding /index.php to URL ?

Are you linking to the directory or directly to index.php?

I recently created a sub-folder that I wanted to get indexed quick. I put a link to it form my homepage, and a link to it from my blog and message board.

It seems to me that the competition between Yahoo, Google and MSN, can be used to one's advantage. They will index almost anything, it seems, that is linked to a discussion board or a blog, and return these results quicker then any other links.

I think it only took a couple of days to get the sub-folder indexed.

    Best Regards,
