Can a publisher opt out of the marketplace for an active product?

I can't find a product in the marketplace that I thought was pretty established. The site is still up and the hops still appear to work. Can a publisher opt out of the marketplace for an active product? What would be the motivation?

    Yes,

One can choose not to have their program listed in the marketplace if they don't want it there.

Thanks for this Norb. Wouldn't this make it more difficult to attract affliates though? By choosing not to list in the market place are you basically saying you don't want any affliates or any more affliates in this case, since the product was originally listed?

Some publishers do not want affiliates.
Like my last product was launched... quietly, I didn't post about it here and opted out from the marketplace.
It's a touchy subject, and I am sure some affiliates will promote it the wrong way - which will cause refunds and
chagebacks. So I promote it myself...

Another thing is that if CB thinks refund rate of the publisher is high, they can force the publisher out of the marketplace. This happened to a popular wii website.

Thanks. I can understand that in some cases you wouldn't want affiliates, but it still doesn't make sense to me that this guy wouldn't want affiliates.

This is interesting. Instead of being kicked out of CB altogether, they just get kicked out of the marketplace if they have a high refund rate. ;) I did notice that this publisher is opting customers into a monthly recurring service that is hardly mentioned on the sales page. It looks shady to me and maybe he's made enough people angry about it that he's been kicked out of the marketplace.

Thanks for the info! I'm thinking now that I should probably steer clear of this product.

FYI: I followed up with the publisher and found out that they got in some hot water with ClickBank due to some chargebacks. They are still listed as inactive, so I guess I should stay away until they are reactivated.

Is this the type of situation where ClickBank's security measures will kick in and decrease conversion rates by rejecting credit cards from time to time?
