Can a PR8 textlink make a wonder ?

    Hi,

I have a site around 40th position in my niche's general keyword 'mmorpg' I'm thinking about to buy a PR8 textlink to my site.

It is very expensive, so i thought to ask more experienced fellows about how much wonder can I hope of this PR8 textlink ? Will it make a general boost in my position ?

    Thanks, ggot

If the site with the PR8 isn't in a niche related to yours, it won't likely help you with rankings. Google is really cracking down on paid links, so what the link looks like is also a factor. If it is grouped with a bunch of other text links, or in the footer, it's going to look like a paid link. If it is inside of page text (like a link inside an article) it is going to look a lot more natural. Google also takes into how long a link has been on the site (aging factor) so you might have to pay for months before you are going to see the maximum benefits - and you'll need to keep paying because the minute the link goes away, you'll lose the benefit. If google has flagged the site, it isn't going to pass trust and be pretty much worthless for you. I would look at the sites that already have a link and see how they are ranking for their link keyword text. All in all, it's risky and you could get a penalty.

the money you spend will be a lot for a PR8 textlink... if you think your site will be that much better off and actually cover your investment... but I would stay away from paid links... natural links are the best

    PR8 .. sounds tasty.

But what will it do for your site -
related in context will bring in huge amount of traffic (IF the original site has alot of traffic : )) )
and 40th right now, how far in terms of competition to break into the top 10 ?
and once you hit top 10, how much does it convert for you $$ as compared to spending the money on PR8 link ?

Just some simple questions to ask urself, actually there are alot more factors than these i listed. Hope it helps neveretheless

In mmorpg niche there is only 1 PR6 site, and the top10 sites are PR5. If I would reach top10 position it really would worth that PR8 link's price.

But the question is the same : can I break into the top10 or even top20 from the 40th positon with a single PR8 link ?

You should study the competitors backlinks and do the conclusion by yourself.

Forget about PR (unless you are trying to sell links), it doesn't matter for rankings, it's about trusted links from related sites. I doubt a single link will take you into the top 10 for a highly competitive keyword.

It will help a lot only if it's DoFollow, related to your niche and incontent.

    Hi,

I think you're much better off focusing on natural link building. If you can looking for HIGH PR links, you can get such a link from an article site as well.

    Just my 2cents,
    Sam

Why not do a lot more free link building techniques and build more quality links, for free, and watch your rankings move up and up.

Relevant links are are worth way more than just a nonrelevant high pr site.

If the pr8 link is relevant to your site and you have the resources to buy it
then you should buy it, but I don't think it's necessary. If you build high quality
links from different sources your rankings will improve over time.

If you have extra money to spare please give it to me--I would take it:)

It would be a total waste buying a PR8 link. The way Google works these days not gonna give you any extra credit for having a PR8 link.

Most important thing is getting link from related site. Even if its no pr or PR0 that would count more compared to a non-related PR8 site.

webcosmo: Thats not completly true. I have several sites with random PR0-PR5 backlinks (may 1% from my niche) and got PR4.

    Consider the following factors:

-Is the link a permanent one?

-Have you run a comprehensive backlink report to see how many other pages in your niche that site is linked to by and how many they link to?

-Have you compared the price of your single PR8 to that of massive submission to PR0-PR5 niche directories?

-Are you looking for long-term success of your site, or short term profit?

-Have you already exhausted the free methods available (forums, blog comments, directories, article marketing, etc...)?

    Just some items to consider....
