Can a Non US Resident buy iPhone from Apple Online Store?

I am a Non US Resident but want to buy an iPhone from Apple Online Store. I have someone in US who can bring it to me when he returns (and then I can unlock it). I need to buy it via Apple Online Store and get it shipped to his address.

But the problem is, at the Apple Online Store, the form where you enter your billing address doesn't have an option to select the country. It is always US. That means I can't use my credit card to make the payment.

Is there some other way to make the payment? Like using a VCC from one of the guys here who sell it for Paypal activation purposes?

Also is it compulsory to pickup an AT&T contract along with the iPhone (at both online and offline stores)? Or is iPhone like any other gadget which you can buy from a store for it's retail price alone and later purchase the AT&T contract if needed?

I think that your best bet, is sending the money over to someone you know living in the US. Then he will buy it for you with his CC, and send you the phone.

If you use the iPhone outside the USA you will have massive roaming charges.

I had a family member who lived in the US order the iphone for me, and i sent them the money via bank wire transfer. when he received the phone he then posted it the uk for me where i then proceeded to have it unlocked. it works perfectly and i really do love my new phone.

    Thanks guys.

KoK, my friend is not a US resident either. He is on a visit and is short of money to buy it from a store. Besides I heard it is mandatory to get an AT&T contract inorder to buy an iPhone from a retail store. Is it true?

Tobycoke, don't worry man. I am not going to use a US sim. Once I get my hands on the gadget, I am going to unlock it and use a local sim.

Flash, nice to know you have no problems with iPhone outside US. One question, buddy. Did your relative get the iPhone alone from the store or was he forced to take the AT&T contract too?
