nah, it's better to change the them to:
    - Hell yes!
    - Your post suck
    - Fish knows

the last option is neutral, if you're not sure, or don't care :p

Just to slip a little off topic, why are reps anonymous? I read a whole pot full of posts regarding the rep scheme here, but saw nary a mention of anonymity. In line with that, why are the reps private?

My experience with reps is that the rep whores in the lounge/general discussion/feedback areas tend to have inflated rep powers either plus or minus. I'd rather see the signed rep comments on the individual posts. It doesn't take long to learn who, in each forum, is authoritative and who is a clown. So, their reps on a post have value, especially if it's in an area I'm not all that competent in.

I think I'm pretty sharp in the html and css areas. I'd hope that would be recognized so that when I rep++ a post, the other readers would trust the answer.

That said, I have to wonder who was the gutless wonder that down-repped me here? What a git.

OK, somebody give me the straight poop on this, then you can slip back to your conversation ;).

    cheers,

    gary

Oh Gary. If you truly read through "...a whole pot full of posts regarding the rep scheme ...", you would know better than to post that question! Watch out!

Well, I'm not concerned so much about that as I am about the fact that it is anonymous and is not public. What purpose is served? I have several rep++ too, and they are also anonymous. And not public.

    cheers,

    gary

I have yet to see/hear any reason why public is better than anonymous. I see it serving no purpose other than to make it easy for someone to retaliate red rep or give green rep for no reason other than someone else gave them rep.

I'm to the point where it won't make a difference to me who gave it. But I don't think it would lead to retaliation, and if so ... it would be more targeted retaliation.

means giving it back to the person who gave it rather than who you "think" gave it.
