Ok, so you say I can, obviously I missed what ever it was that allowed you to open that field and edit it. I'm honestly more of a vbulletin user.

So, what about the other things I said? You didn't say anything about them. I think I made some good points and was eagerly awaiting those explanations. I personally have zero understanding for the logic beyond the one point you keep trying to make of: You could have edited the title at one point. Ok great, I could have and I couldn't figure out how to do that for what ever reason. Now how about that other stuff?

Well mostly your points are about being unable to edit the thread title, which really just sounds like you didn't know how and/or ignored the instructions on how to do so. While I understand you didn't know how to edit the thread title (even after we told you how), I'm not really sure what a better overall solution would actually be.

You have to remember I'm dealing with the scope of the site as a whole, while you are dealing with one single thread.

Should we change the rules to allow duplicate threads (or reposted threads or whatever you want to call it)? I don't see there being any benefit (only downside) to the site if we start allowing everyone to repost their threads. While I don't think your intentions are malicious, you have to factor in that with 700,000+ other users, they will try to bend the rules as much as they can. Unfortunately users will post a thread, then claim they "forgot" something and repost it again. So then we have duplicate threads all over the place clogging everything up.

Another option would be to allow unlimited editing of posts/thread titles. There actually are reasons we have the editing limitation/windows in place. Some users would try the old bait and switch tactics... for example get someone to buy something, then go back and edit the original sale thread saying it's something else. And while the existing system still would allow that to a tiny extent, the limitations are more a balance of allowing the user to edit something, but also not allowing it to happen so much that it becomes an issue we need to investigate very often (the system does log edit history for us, so admins can go back and review edits if needed).

I'm certainly open to suggestions on how to make things run better, but again... you need to also be thinking as a whole, not how to make your life easier as an individual (they might be the same in the end, but ultimately global management issues will always override be more important than an individual edge case with something).

@evershawn, I honestly think you're the one who's making things complicated. The matter is simple, and this thread isn't even necessary. You could've just reported your own original contest thread to a mod and ask them to delete it. After they delete it, you can make a new thread.

And the thread "bump" limitation is for that particular thread. Like, 1 bump for every month for THAT thread, not for your WHOLE account. I think everything is pretty simple if you pause for a moment and take a deep breath. Just sayin'.

Not correct... the bumping "token" is per account, not per thread. That's intentional and makes it so only the good threads get bumped.

This is exactly what I was trying to do, instead the new thread got deleted, I got a warning and the old thread remained in place, which is why I started this thread asking for the old thread to be deleted and the new thread restored, but I got denied on all accounts.

You need to report the first thread and then wait until a mod deletes the thread BEFORE making a new thread. If you don't wait, then obviously the threads are considered duplicate.
