Can a forum run on shared hosting?

Does a forum need something stronger? Note, for the blog it would depend on how large it is and other factors. Probably the same is true for forums.

Absolutely. Most forums with low or medium monthly traffic can be handled with a shared hosting account.

Yes, you can run forums from the shared hosting. Moreover, most of shared plans include 1-click script installation software, which also comes with forum scripts, so you can easily install and run in minutes.

You can easily run a SMF/phpBB/vBulletin forum from shared hosting account. As the traffic and activity on your forum increases you can then upgrade to a VPS/Dedicated.

Depends on the volume, DP requires tons of processing power :)

Yes you can start it out on shared hosting plan. But I would have a plan set up to migrate to a VPS or Dedicated server. As shared plans are not set to handle the resource usage that a forum site is going to use once you start getting a lot of people on the site.

This depends on the traffic and resource usage. If it is a new forum - this wont be a problem

Forums tend to use up more server resources than a typical PHP website. But if you have low traffic a decent shared hosting should be enough for you. Once traffic grows, you will be hitting resource limits (CPU, RAM, IO etc.) and you'll need to upgrade. Until you hit those limits, nothing to worry about.

Like others said, a forum can run on shared hosting if it doesn't require an extensive amount of resources. I would say give it a try and see how it fits your needs. If you are not satisfied, I would say look into getting a smaller VPS

You can host them on Shared environment as long as they don't affect other accounts / sites on the server.

    Good morning!
As a forum is like any other website, of course, it can be hosted with shared hosting. Auto apps installer should setup your forum in minutes.

The big thing for me is the uptime, and reliability, alongside good prices (in comparison with quality) and I also like to see some good support just for peace of mind.
