Can a forum and a blog or blogs help my site?

    Hi,

I have been considering adding a forum and a blog system to my site. I think that content provided by the user (WEB 2.0) my boost the site.
However, my site is new and it may look pathetic because no one will write anything (in the meanwhile)
    What do you think?

    Tanks,
    Madchat

If you want or need interaction from visitors, a forum or blog could help.

    Hi,

In my decision forum and blogs are interact people. Using forum you can increase traffic to your site. Blogs also helps to increase traffic but it’s not use for professional site. Most of the visitors need to know some information so in that way you can give some information about that topic and give link to your site. :)

What is your site about? Forums and blogs are helpful as long as they have the potential to form a community. You should decide wether your visitors would be interested in posting in your forum or comment your blog.

I would start with a blog first. Allow for commenting and see how the discussions go. There is nothing worse than an empty forum on a site.

A forum and a blog can be the difference between a little traffic and a lot of traffic. Forums and blogs allow you to have more pages index by the search engine, they also give your visitors a reason to come back to the site and in the long run generate you more traffic.

    Good luck

Of course, forum helps gather traffic from its members and the blog gathers traffic for a site and it gives backlinks to a site.

It depends if you think a forum /page is as equally important to you or the visitor as a normal page within your site. Because as your site grows with hundreds of forum posts think to yourself if PR spreading to those pages would be any good? I prefer more pr to my real meaningful pages that represent my site than any blog pages.

A forum will take a long time to get started and you will probably spend a lot of time removing spam, a blog is much quicker and easier to get established and will look fuller much sooner.

If you can add them both its better so that you can see how they would traffic on your site. But your traffic would also depends on your topic and how you optimized it well. If your topic is something interesting to any kind of visitors it would definitely boost traffic on your site.

Start with a blog first. Update it regularly with new posts. Track how it works & then go for a forum.

Definitely it will help having a blog. A forum would be difficult to start at first so you need to give time for your site to mature before you start one.

I think you can also go for social networking since you are expecting user generated content.
