Me and my friends have done a test if a domain name can actually put you on the 1st few pages of google. I just created these sites and used keyword country to find phrases that had less then 500 sites using the phrase. best Deal on Insurance # 5 google = http://bestdealoninsurance.com small bussiness loan # 5 google, = http://smallbussinnessloan.com http://arizona-commercial-loan-mortgage.com http://listofstockbrokers.net http://iphonecracked.net I know today they are there, and it may change, but I found this to be interesting knowing these sites are only 2 weeks olg and have "0" PR
Relevance to a search query is very important as regards ranking, Ive tried similar experiments with the same results. Domain Name - Content - Keywords - Tags - Anchor Text Links -
I've found that your domain is of utmost importance. It's almost a "gimme" keyword. I cover that and more in this free domaining guide: The Penguin Guide to Domaining: http://www.uglytheme.com/penguin-gu...be-an-above-average-domainer-all-on-one-page/ -Brad
while i agree to some extent.. I will say that its not a given that it will just go to 1. for example. i have billclintonquote.com when i started out it was on page 5 now its on page 2.. havent seen much movement up from that lately... so maybe to page 1 within 9 months.. but very slow.
yeah thats very necessary... it does give you a boost if you have search engine friendly domain name... mine isn't that search engine friendly considering that my blog is about computers and my domain has non of such keyword but still i love the name
LOL - Someone should have used spell check before registering ... unless you're banking on other people spelling it wront?
I’ve also found that keyword domain names are a boost. No big surprise that it seems to work better in small niche markets, than popular search phrases.
Based on what I've seen, it's about 30% of work done. I still see non keyword websites on top, because they are optimized better.
Sorry to change subject a little but I'm just wondering if the spelling mistake you made was intentional? since you was talking about spelling mistakes "wront" correct spelling "wrong"...
Awesome post, I always thought that having a longtail keyword in a domain name was beneficial. Good to know for future reg's.
