Can a company make it on a Press Release alone?

Do you think a company can make it on only a press release?

You can get a lot of sales from it and get a lot of exposure but from one press release no. It may seem like that for some companies but there is a lot of hard work and hours behind the scenes to make it happen.

On a PR campaign (public relations... not "press release), then yes. Will one single press release make or break you... not likely. The ones using them successfully do newsworthy things regularly and keep issuing releases to keep their name in front of the media.

Unless you are the exclusive manufacturer or distributor of unique and COMPELLING product, I doubt a press release campaign would amount to much. As stated by Jenn earlier, for a press release campaign to work you have to be announcing something NEWSWORTHY. Having a compelling and/or original product provides that element.

No , i dont think so . People tend to forget easily . You have to constantly pump in money to get results. You have to be innovative everytime.

No, you don't have to "constantly pump in money" in order to get results.

If you are a real company then the answer is NO. Even if you SEO the press releases, it will not increase the sales.

You must have a web site that has been SEOed. Then the press releases will have impact.

Remember, all of this is to create "leads" for the sale team. The consumer will uses the Search Engines and "see" the web site's page before they will see a Press Release.

This is why it is so important for having a SEO trained writer on the SEO team.

I'm currently working with a company that has relied on just press releases in the past. It seems to have gotten them only so far.

I would say it is an incomplete strategy, and should be mixed up with SEO and other marketing stratagem.
