Can a blog rank higher than a company for that companies name as keyword?

Would it be impossible for a blog to rank higher than a corporate website for that companies name? For example, my blog talking about Pepsi, can I rank higher than the actual company if someone searches for keyword Pepsi? How much time and money would that take?

A blog can be *a website*.

So what you are asking is 'can a website rank higher than another website'.

    The answer is...er...yes.

There are many example of p*ssed off companies who don't 'own' the number 1 spot for their own name.

see it all depends upon your website....now as you took an example of pepsi which is in itself a big company thus in google's eyes it has an authority...

so competiting with pepsi in this sense is no good thing ..

but now if you talk about the website which they is all about their product promotion and they do not spend much time on their website as its of less use for them...but o nthe other hand if you have something to share more and good about pepsi then you surely have a chance to get a good ranking but i cannot say or commit a rank which is above pepsi authorised website...

regarding cost and money.........it depends how much you can invest as this world has tools and gadgets to get your money........thus with limited budget try to get the best and take help of google adwords...

I guess I'm taking this route because I can't compete for the single keyword that defines my industry, but I would like to beat everyone of my competitors for their name. (Instead of trying to rank for "soda" I'm trying to rank for "Duff Cola" ) Does it make a difference if that companies website only recieves a certain amount of searches. It is a national brand but it doesn't get much searches. Probably around 3-4K a month. Should I just do this through my own efforts or should use an SEO service?

I think I can get a decent amount of edu links on my own and I am naturally going to be creating quality backlinks. I'm just a complete newbie when it comes to onsite SEO.

Is there a difference between a $300 SEO service and a $2,000 service. More importantly what seperates a $2,000 service from a $6,000 service?

yes, but you have to be the smartest seo expert especially for keyword "pepsi" you must copy coke's strategy.. LOL

Sertiously yes, if you have a lot of resources in seo..
