Campaign with Multiple Text Ads and Multiple AdGroups

    Hi,

I have trouble figuring out how ads are assigned to AdGroups. My campaign comes with 3 text ads and 17 AdGroups. I defined the first ad and followed by the 17 AdGroups without much trouble. Now I'm surprised to find out I might need to assign an ad to one AdGroup at the time. The fear is that I have to write the same ad 16 times to complete the assignment. I'm hoping I just need to write an ad once and assign to AdGroups 17 times. Would you please lend me a hand sharing with me how you did it?

Writing the same ad for all your adgroups sort of defeats the purpose. The idea is to have tightly themed keywords in your adgroup - ideally one keyword per group, and write your ad specifically for that keyword. Iit's also best to have 2 or 3 ads per group, rotate them and test which ones work best)
However, to answer your question, any thing that involves copying or moving stuff in adwords is best done wirh Adwords Editor. http://www.google.com/intl/en/adwordseditor/

    Magda,

    Thanks for your help.

I found out the AdWords editor does the multiple ads well. One thing I learned is that an ad can be assigned to any AdGroups independently.

I finally understand why you need tight your ad to keywords. Would it be overwhelming with large number of keywords say 20 or more? Majority of campaigns have limited number of ads. As a newbie, this sound one area I can do more work to compete. Can I work harder using more unique ads for keywords to gt higher score?

no no no... make the the title of your ad... the "keyword"
the next two lines in your ad can change...
the display url... should have your keyword

so it goes like this.. keyword = title keyword = display url keyword = title on landing page...
