If you think about the amount of internal links and content, they need not worry about external links

    Seems quite impossible to me...
I agree it's very annoying to see wiki on the top position for almost any keyword, but you have to recognize the fact that they DO provide value.

Sometimes Wikipedia forgets to put in there the versions of truth

I think that external links on Wiki are very important, not only for SEO, but bring a lot of traffic for happy people who have backlinks from Wiki.

    the nofolow from wikipedia will not stop the spam at this moment because webmasters will now spam wikipedia for traffic;
Also exist the problem with what happen in dmoz, administrators to have websites and to remove from wikipedia competitors.
I talk with some administrators and the policy of them is to remove from external links sites that have advertising(like adsense, ypn ...) and affiliates not depending if they have good content.
Maybe a solution is to have a search engine only for wikipedia content.

Personally, I like wikipedia. I find it very useful. I wouldn't want to try to lower it's PR.

I mean, ok..let's my seo efforts pay off and i get number 2 pos for bunch of keywords, but wikipedia is above me at number 1. So what? People wanting to "buy" what I'm selling are smart enough to know they won't find what they want on wikipedia.

I do think that reducing it to 0 would be out of the question, though I do think that if we all started making out links to them nofollow, it would certainly be a good start...

why do you want to do this anyway?

Page Rank has nothing to do with SERPS so what is the purpose? and what have they done to you?

    I'd guess both.

Maybe he's trying to compensate for his newly missing wiki-links by getting all the SEO forums to link to him. Kind of like swapping one high PR link for another ;)

True. It is absolutely useless to fritter your time away, trying to turn things in such a direction. What is this hype all about? Wikipedia is a strong informational source but just as any other source, it has some downsides too. Not enough a reason to start a senseless campaign though.

I want to say that I have nothing to do with the site(is not my site or someone that I know), I just founded the blog by searching something on google.
I just put this link to see what webmasters think about nofolow links and spam on Wikipedia and if they respond with the same tactic.

I highly this will do anything. Wikipedia is like Google's best friend...
Google relys on Wiki for EVERY keyword, except for a few in those cases, other high sites take over.
