I have a server placed in collocation with CalPop (calpop.com) and uptime is the worst I have ever seen. I have had better luck with free website hosts than with calpop. The site I am running is an online radio and the crappy uptime is really bad for business. I have downtime AT LEAST twice a week. I use a site uptime monitor to keep me notified and you should just see the amount of emails come up when I type in 'site down' I call support and they give me one lie after another. I just called right now and the guy checked my IP and said there were no problems and that it might be my server. The server I am using has NEVER had a problem and every time 'my server is the problem' everything is just fine when the site comes back. I log in to my server and it has been running non-stop. The guy went to check on my server and when he came back all he said was "I don't see any problems but we'll keep on checking, bye." *click*...I didn't even get a chance to curse at him. I spoke with a supervisor yesterday and she seemed quite dumb. I told her I have had downtime every week and she had nothing to say. I asked her if I should move to another collocation provider and she was quiet for so long that I had to ask and make sure she was still on the line. I told her about how the night shift tech guys don't care about any client equipment (My server was just SITTING on another server with another HUGE server sitting atop mine. One of the guys held the server on top of mine up as I pulled mine out. Once I got it out BOOM the other customer's server just fell on top of the other server.) She had nothing to say about that either. Seems like I am forced to move to another collocation provider and spend days changing IP addresses for domains, flash apps, streaming servers, etc etc. Anyone know any good collocation providers in the Los Angeles area? *On the phone with idiots yet again.....*
