    Hi

I setting up a cluster of 5 servers for a very large file hosting site.

Each server has 3x750GB HDD's I was thinking of putting them in RAID 5 formation !

Would this be the best option ?

    Thanks Marx

Raid 5 is probably the best and easyiest solution for you.
Mirrorring disks is not a good option for you so raid 1-3 isn't good.
Raid 4 is slower than raid 5.

Raid-5 would be most ideal if you're looking to maximize space but still have a form of redundancy. It's not going to be as fast as say raid-10 but you'll also have significantly more space.

Add another drive if possible, the utilize RAID 10, f possible. Otherwise RAID 5 is best.

What you'd like to do, hardware or software?
