Calling All Press Release Writers!!!

I set up a new site today sort of on a whim - www.FreePressReleaseWriting.com.

The site is basically going to be a free guide on press release writing and distribution. It's going to feature various press release templates (general templates, book release templates, product releases, event releases, etc.), and some samples of successful press releases.

It can also be a place where YOU can get some exposure (spreading the love with the competition a bit). :D

    Here's how:

    1. I want to publish sample press releases that have brought legitimate media coverage (not just reprints of it) to serve as examples for people wanting to write their own press releases. If you have something that fits the bill (and if your client gives permission), contact me with the details. I would need the full text of the release (they'll be published directly on the blog), and links to (or clips of) the actual media coverage. I won't be publishing all of them (those picked up by major media get preference), but if yours is added, you can certainly have yourself mentioned as the writer (again, as long as the client is ok with it), with a link.

    2. I'm also posting profiles of press release writers and PR firms on the site. If you'd like to submit one, look at mine as an example - press release writer profile. You'll have to include all of the same information to be included (they'll each follow the same template). You can submit an image of yourself or a logo if you'd like to, but that's not required. You must include a link to at least one press release that you've written, with a maximum of three.

You can email any info to to be considered.

Instead of emailing me, I tried to make it a bit easier by adding a submission form to the site. You'll only need to shoot over an email if you want to include an image in your profile.

Well there you go... now you don't have to. :)

I also did a post on press release writing resources over at All Freelance Writing a few weeks ago, so the resources there may help you out. :)

That's a great site- I agree with all of the writing tips. Would a press release that got carried in local papers be of interest, or are you looking for national media coverage only?

For samples, mostly national coverage or major online outlets (unless your local paper is a major metro). For press release writer profiles, it doesn't matter where you've been picked up. :)
