I have a site that I would like to increase traffic on. What is the best way to draw people to this site: gamerbio.com. The site is a social networking community for gamers. Discuss games, work out strategies, recruit new players, and more. Please, I would appreciate any pointers you can give. thanks

This sounds like something that the competitive community would be more associated with. I would look into sponsoring well known teams. I would give some type of incentive to use your service rather than using the current methods that they use to recruit players, etc.

Did you look at the site? It is for computer/consoles/pen and paper gamers not sports. What well known teams are you talking about?

Well, I've covered quite many tactics I used to get traffic to my game dev site, so check out those tips.

The orange font is bit hard to read on black (Especially the top links)

As for traffic, I'd focus on getting the members to promote your site. Set up a contest where "people with most (real) friends/connections" (or something) have chance to win something.

Since you have clan oriented stuff, then how about displaying "top clans" (based on activity for example - or something)?

Promote it through forums. Use back links, social bookmarking, pinging, submitting to search engines. If you want to trade links with me just send me a PM.

Game Producer's advice is right on. Before you start a contest, you might be able to build up some excitement in your members by running a poll on what game they would like to win. If you are giving something away that the majority of your members are eager to win, your traffic is going to boom.

There are clans that have quite a following and such. Consider finding clans that you can sponsor affordably to have your name in their name i.e. in a competition they may use the name Team GameBio.com

Also, find a few attractive females that are on the site, or pay a few a few bucks to post their (appropriate but attractive) picture to the site on their profiles. Then in your advertising, use a few picture of the girls with "Gamer Girls" or some kind of play on getting to actually play with these girls.

Sex sells, and especially in a community like gaming where there are a lot more guys that would be interested in meeting some gaming chics.

As the others said have a poll find out what your members would want to win, hold a contest.
Create promotional accounts on online games. Any game that you can think of, create an account with your display name as GameBio.com and just do daily activity so the name is seen.
