Hi there, Has anyone any experience of different ways to track calls from site that have originally came from ppc traffic? I reckon that much of my ppc traffic is coming to site, seeing prominently displayed numbers and then picking up the phone (instead of filling in a contact form = conversion). This leaves a low conversion rate. It's not always possible that my client can ask the prospect where did they come from. Has any one else over come this issue? Thanks Emma
Yes there is a way for call tracking. Most people use http://www.mongoosemetrics.com/ for tracking. The other method is to use PHP to show a different phone number on the site if the visitor has the "?gclid" code in the URL. The second method is more difficult to track as a conversion. Through VOIP you can make a phone call ping a page which would run the conversion code if a call is made.
Google Enables Call Tracking from Mobile landing pages. Google's click to call program has relied to date on Adwords phone extensions. Phone numbers in mobile ads are highlighted, user click them and initiate calls. Those calls are tracked. Both small merchant and national advertisers have used the ads.
