I've been working for about 4 years in Call Center and here's a sample of some of the conversations in our resource database.. Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee. (Now I know why they record these conversations!): Operator: “Ridge Hall, computer assistance; may I help you?†Caller: â€Yes, well, I’m having trouble with WordPerfect.†Operator: “What sort of trouble?†Caller: â€Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away.†Operator: “Went away?†Caller: â€They disappeared†Operator: “Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?†Caller: â€Nothing.†Operator: “Nothing?†Caller: â€It’s blank; it won’t accept anything when I type.†Operator: “Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?†Caller: â€How do I tell?†Operator: “Can you see the ‘C: prompt’ on the screen??†Caller: â€What’s a sea-prompt?†Operator: “Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?†Caller: â€There isn’t any cursor; I told you, it won’t accept anything I type.†Operator: “Does your monitor have a power indicator?†Caller: â€What’s a monitor?†Operator: “It’s the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when its on ? †Caller: “I don’t know.†Operator: â€Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that??†Caller: â€Yes, I think so.†Operator: “Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it’s plugged into the wall. Caller: â€Yes, it is.†Operator: “When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?†Caller: “No.†Operator: â€Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable.†Caller: “Okay, here it is.†Operator: â€Follow it for me, and tell me if it’s plugged securely into the back of your computer.†Caller: “I can’t reach.†Operator: â€OK. Well, can you see if it is?†Caller: “No.†Operator: â€Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?†Caller: “Well, it’s not because I don’t have the right angle – it’s because it’s dark.†Operator: â€Dark?†Caller: “Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window.†Operator: “Well, turn on the office light then.†Caller: “I can’t.†Operator: â€No? Why not?†Caller: “Because there’s a power failure.†Operator: “A power …. A power failure? Aha. Okay, we’ve got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff that your computer came in?†Caller: “Well, yes, I keep them in the closet.†Operator: “Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from.†Caller: â€Really? Is it that bad?†Operator: “Yes, I’m afraid it is.†Caller: â€Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?†Operator: “Tell them you’re too stupid to own a computer!â€
I've heard the last bit before. But really you would get sacked if you worked in a callcenter and told people that.
Is that real? There is no way the operator will stilll keep his or her job especially if the caller called in again and complained to the supervisor about what you said.
i think its just a joke.. operators arent allowed to say stupid things to the caller.. right? think youll get fired for that sort of action..
Yes you would get fired. Esspecially if the call was recorded. At call centers they record random calls to make sure you are doing your job properly and not saying things like this.
FYI guys, this is true but not with Americans or British customers. It's just translated to English in order to share to everyone... This is true and happened here locally... I am working at call center (Teletech) for 4 years now as an operation supervisor and I experienced a lot of stupid customers, especially non-native english speakers... (China, Hongkong, South America, and even part of Europe)...
Oh okay. No idea about other contries, I only really know about here in the UK, guess it's the same over in the US
To stay that to a customer is just utterly rude and vile. I hope it wasn't you giving that advise... ROb
Haha.. I dont know you callcenter guys deal with these kinda folks all day long - It'd make me want to pull my hair out
Working in call center is really difficult for the first time but if you get used to it, it's pretty enjoyable... different people you chat with everyday... and many of them are supids too...and others are racists...
Hahahaha! That was really really funny! I just LOLd. Thanks for sharing this awesome conversation. My uncle works in a callcenter and has experienced his fair share of stupid customers. Hehe
haha! is this for real?? this one's really funny.. but these operators shouldn't talk that way to those callers no matter how stupid they are. you'll get fired.
Yep whe will be fired f whe do like that. I am working in a callcenter to and whe always must be nice to customers no matter what.
