Who is this politician to decide that people are frightened of people peacefully open carrying? Facepalm at this moron: criminals don't walk around with their weapon for the public to see... Say what you want about Republicans, but interestingly enough none voted for gun grabbing. http://blogs.sacbee.com/capitolaler...handguns-assembly-bill-144.html#ixzz1XQ5uf2Pj
Laws like this should do a good job at making a more docile compliant population, or adding to the prison roles. It makes me wonder where they are going to put the new prisoners though, since we will be releasing 30,000 prisoners(1/5th of the prison population) on October23, by order of the US Supreme Court for over crowding. Maybe they can send the 10% of that prison population that is illegal immigrants back to the countries from which they came to stand trial, or shorten the never ending appeals process which makes it nearly impossible and prohibitively expensive to carry out death sentences in this state. That probably wont happen though, since our legislature is busily passing legislation to free up those "extra" taxpayer dollars for college education for illegals. Given our unemployment numbers, disarming the citizens seems like the right political move. The unemployment rate may be above 12%, and the state may be broke, but police departments(read police unions) are hiring like mad. If you need a job and fear for your safety, join the police to "Protect and Serve" our good citizens. Here is a nice story about how 6 of those good people helped beautify the streets of California by removing an unarmed homeless man. You might find it a bit disturbing that they beat and pistol whipped him, causing him to die by choking on his own blood, but hey, hes off the streets, and not a burden on our prison system! This happened about two months ago, and the officers involved are on paid administrative leave(love those unions). The D.A. said he wanted to see the medical report showing cause of death, which came out two days ago before deciding on whether to press charges against the police officers. Now that the report is out(longest delayed COD report in history), the D.A. says he wants to wait for toxicology reports. Those just came out showing no drugs of any sort in the victim's, err... I mean perpetrator's blood.
"This is not the old west...." What a joke. Obviously, obviously Mr. anti-gun legislator. We all know it's not the old west, but whether having it exposed or not shouldn't really matter, but people that are afraid of guns will always freak out when seeing a gun. If you take extensive classes well beyond just the standard C.H.L. classes for concealed guns, you're not going to be irresponsible with guns exposed and just start shooting at the sound of some banging. I think every state should have c.h.l. laws as well as open carry laws. That's just my opinion though.
