I would like google to cache my home page more often. Does anyone know how to make this happen? When my homepage is cached it seems like my rankings improve. Could be something else though.

you can do two thinks for more google visit.

1 - add more content to your site. update your site daily.

2- build more backlinks as much as you can do

Start writing a blog and in your blog posts link to your home page.

Just keep updating your site/blog with unique content and after a while Google will cache your page regulary.

If I remember right, you are able to set the caching to a higher rate in the google webmaster tools. Not sure how it works, but its there.
And the more new content you have each day, the more often google is going to come.
And if Im not mistaken, there is something you can write into robots.txt
