About a month ago my home page lost "show Google's cache" link and it was showing "www.my-site-name.com - similar pages" without the site title, description or green URL. Last night I found out the page was cached on April 3rd, and everything looks normal again. My question is: did anyone else experienced this, and if yes, does the page stays cached for a longer time? I also have this problem with many other pages on my website that where cached but not any more. Will these other pages be cached again, now when the home page is cached?
This is "normal" for google. I have one site where they are showing a cache that is over a year old - but was previously current. Other cached pages from the same site are being updated almost daily. google does what google does and there isn't anyway to predict when they will update the cache for a particular site. I seem to see this behavior on pages where the content doesn't change as frequent as others.
