Hello, I have my eyes on a .CA domain I want to get. It's current status is "SUSPD" because it expired last month on the 14th. Is there any redemption period for .CA names or can I just go ahead and register it on the 14th? Thanks.
The Canadian registry CIRA publishes a list of domains to be released. Names are released every Wednesday afternoon. I do not know if there is a set or predictable hold period from expiry to drop. http://ro.cira.ca/tbrlist_p "To register a domain name on the list below, please contact a CIRA Certified Registrar as soon as possible. All "To Be Released" domain names may ONLY BE REGISTERED THROUGH PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS made with a CIRA Certified Registrar. Release Date: 2008/08/06 Release Time: 14:00 and 15:00 (EST . Ottawa time) Number of Domain Names on the List: 2233" Choose a .ca registrar. Only registrars can compete (on your behalf) in the auction on the drop date. Here is a list of winning bids in recent auctions: http://www.domainbits.com/TBR-irregularities/ ppv.ca - $2,110 (an excellent LLL.ca and one of the highest prices I’ve seen for an LLL.ca) nicole.ca - $810 canadavisa.ca - $410 mixx.ca - $260 hamiltonwentworth.ca - $170 (a steal because hamilton.ca and wentworth.ca are reserved names) fenderbender.ca - $135 wnet.ca - $110 mymall.ca - $110 landscapes.ca - $1,452 savemoney.ca - $1,145 spycam.ca - $190 toyshop.ca - $460 actiongames.ca - $80 cardiology.ca - $1,325 lawns.ca - $6,400 medication.ca - $2,810 queencharlotteislands.ca - $575 stocktraders.ca - $600 skippackages.ca - $1,091 whistlerhotels.ca - $3,161 rr.ca - unsure, but at least $10,171
