An example developed site is blog.bz .bz is just another country tld just like .at, .tl, and .io and so on but I think it is definitely worth grabbing a generic word .bz and developing or for future investment. Last week, for example, some generic .io, .at and .to domain names were sold in the low thousands... so there is potential. I own games.tl, for example. .tl is a relatively unknown extension but because of the generic 'games' word people do remember it and I get a lot of traffic... ,Stefan.
thanks stefan, ya, you got a good name games.tl but well, how do you get LOTs of traffic? What type of traffic? Coz usually people will simply do a games.com, games.net etc. I never know if people search for games.tl?? So my question is: what type of traffic you get from? Cheers Toby
Toby, There are many different ways for building traffic for sites. I'm not an expert on traffic and there are many other game sites that get much more traffic than I do. But for that particular site I used a variety of methods which included putting the site on top lists, selecting keywords for each game, exchanging links with high traffic sites and placing it in a couple of directories. A site with plenty of content and keywords and so on will usually get crawled and then indexed by google and then you get traffic from google. (type in stickmen games in google for example - should be first page) After that, the generic name comes into play because people tell other people about the site and it's an easy name to remember and then they start searching for games.tl and so on and so on. But generally if someone was looking for a games site or other site they would usually type in say games.com (.com is definitely top of all domains) Stefan.
.bz is getting more popular after verisign took over the registry. Btw, you can get .bz for around $25.
