Hi, you hear a lot of people throw around "Web 2.0" to describe things... I have even heard "blackhat 2.0" to describe blackhat seo of web 2.0. Before I get even more behind the curve, what exactly is it? I imagine it has to do with using CSS, which I'm resisting... what else is included in web 2.0? Does the W3C have anything to do with it?
Read this and you will understand. It's not a term for a certain design or a certain language It's a term to describe the nature of websites. Digg.com and myspace are examples of web 2.0 because content is generated and controlled by users. There is more to it but I'm not allowed to post links yet, search 'what is web 2.0' in google and read oreilly's article.
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/oreilly/tim/news/2005/09/30/what-is-web-20.html This explains it. You could just google it. It's really just a new paradigm that essentially emphasizes collaboaration, instead of top down systems on the web.
Ok, so by top down, i'm guessing you mean webmaster distributing content to webuser, right? I see the correlation of the user controlled content. Newsgroups have been around forever though. That was user controlled. I guess the diff is that now the content is video, pics and audio are included as the content. Actually, porn was distributed freely on the first newsgroups, was it not? I would rather talk to someone, like you guys, about it rather than just googling. i'm sick of talking to just computers. Some people have described website design using rounded corners as "very web 2.0". this one is the one that threw me a little. I guess they didn't really know what the heck is going on and should get a clue 2.0.
