Hi, im considering buying a domain of my first and last name, the .com is gone but its available in many others, one being .me.uk (im a UK citizen) and i just checked and .me.uk are intended for personal use as suggested here http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrants/aboutdomainnames/sld/me.uk/ so my own name as a .me.uk is quite appealing to me. Im thinking of buying it to setup a wordpress blog on it, i blog but ive never blogged freely as in ive usually written about a specific niche, but regarding business im doing a lot of research now which will continue probably over the years, i read a ton of blogs and comment where necessary but i dont leave a url, just my name (i know hard to believe isn't it, an actual person who doesn't even drop a link in blogs that i comment on) lol so im thinking that if i setup this blog of mine i can then drop my link in when i comment. This wont be a blog for talking rubbish in, like how much i ate today, lol, but rather on the things that im picking up as i do my research which is in line with the types of blogs and sites that im reading, im learning a helluva lot but im thinking that i might learn even more by expressing myself in my own new blog, have you found this to be true? When you blog on your own personal blog and get things written on what it is that you're doing, your direction etc I wont be dropping adsense on it either, no ads at all, but will probably buy a decent theme for it, so im definately thinking long term, this blog itself wont be for money, but my reasons for my reading, research, and putting into practice these things will indeed lead to myself started up a new business(s) I dont want to use twitter for this for reasons of having control and being able to write enough to express myself. What do you think? Do you do something similar? I think something else that atttracts me to doing this is that i will be blogging under my real name, i believe that there will be a shift towards this over the coming years, with google + and others that will encourage people to publish as themselves and leave behind the username/nickname way that most of us have been used to.
Take ORG or NET or ME or CO.UK They will be equally good (especially co.uk in your case, if available)
.co.uk was taken, as its a personal blog that i will be setting up on it i bought .me.uk, i wasn't keen on going for .net or .org, they didn't seem right for its purpose. The .me is available but i wasn't so keen on that either as its not intended originally for personal use.
