Buying tpparpg.com for $158

I'm on the verge of buying the domain (site included) for $158. It gets around 2000-3000 unique visitors a day. I think it could generate a very good revenue from Google AdSense.

Basically I'm going to buy the full rights to the domain, tpparpg.com. I'm going to host the site on my dedicated server so that the guy who runs the site doesn't need to worry about the server costs. Do you think it's a good deal?

Very good deal, judging by the fact that the site has great traffic.

The site is relatively new, and I think the current owner hasn't realised it's full potential yet. It's a good thing I found it at this early stage. :)

I don't like giving advice on sales that are pending, since there is always the chance that after reading a bunch of threads about how great of a deal this is, the seller may realize their "mistake" and back out of the deal. I know it is a policy on the major domain name forums that you can only ask for an appraisal on domains you own, and this is the reason for that.

Nonetheless, a site with almost 10,000 members for only $158 is definitely a good deal. Almost too good, so I would be very cautious if I were you.

We've agreed, and now we just need to both sign a legally binding contract.

Let's say you were selling a site and your potential buyer posted about the sale before it was completed. Then they went a step further and called you naive. How would you feel?

You said you think this person is very young. How young? If they are VERY young, are you going to get their parents to sign this contract?

Also, I touched on this before, but be careful. $158 is seriously way too low for a site getting that much traffic, so make sure you lookup the whois details, contact the buyer by phone, and make sure it is actually them. How would you feel if you were the one who, in the end, was naive?

I'm not trying to pick on you, I've just seen too many scams in the past, and I hate it when people allow themselves to fall victim to them.

    Best of luck,
    Jorge
