Buying targeted web traffic... Can it work?

So like everyone else I am trying to get more traffic. I have done SEO but that takes time to kick in. I am writing articles but that takes time too. I have submitted my website to search engines and started a blog and done all the things I can think to do to get more traffic to my product.

I have affiliates but they don't seem to be doing much of anything but signing up to be affiliates. So yeah I need some traffic in a bad way. I am trying to keep my head up right now but just getting that first sale seems to be killing me.

I plan to do some PPC ads this next week, but I have been looking into buying some targeted traffic. Does anyone have any advice about buying targeted traffic? Any suggestions on who to buy from? And can it work or does it work?

    Hi herbalhound,

Have you ever thought about hosting a webinar to promote your product?
If you can get people to sign up for a webinar (a lot easier than an opt in box for a free e-book)
you can present the benefits of your product. Using images, slides and even demonstrating live websites increases
viewer interest, and when the time comes to "pitch" your offer you will have a much better response. Especially if
you offer a unique bonus only for people who take action then and there.

Send traffic to your webinar registration page form Facebook ads. you can get $50 free coupons on the web. Use Google.
Target PEOPLE on FB in your niche who have a lot of friends. Your add will show up when their friends log in.

    Hope that helps a little.

    Good Luck

    Dave

First of all, congrats on your first info product! I read about it in one of your other posts! Sounds like you're a go-getter!

One website that I've heard good things about for buying traffic is BuyTargetedTraffic. Apparently they really deliver, but I've never tried them myself.

When people talk about "buying traffic" they're often talking about PPC. It's just so effective because you pay much less for the customers and they're laser targeted, if you use the right keywords. If your site is set up right and your product is good, you'll get motivated site traffic and return visitors. So it sounds like you're on the right track to use PPC.

Have you thought about adding in some freebies and offers on your site to make it even more appealing? Also social media like a Facebook FanPage could help spread the word. You could even have a squeeze page or actual order form there. Or buy a solo ad or two. I've definitely had good responses from solo ads. Make sure you're tracking those clicks! And good luck!

    Chrishonda,

Thank you very much for your advice. Sounds like you know your stuff. I was actually looking at that very site. Thank again for your help.

    Storesf1,

Thank you as well. Sounds like an interesting tactic. I don't know much about webinars though. I will have to look into that. Thanks again.

I personally never tried buying traffic- meaning buying hits or visitors like those 10000 visitors for $20 or what have you. But, I think everybody would agree that those are useless anyways.

If you are talking about buying traffic with PPC, that could be a great way to do that. However, PPC isn't for everyone. I tried it a few times and since I was spending more money than pulling in with it, I gave it up. So, make sure to learn as much as you can and take it slowly to avoid losing a lot of money.

If you do use PPC, I would take advice and some freebie or something like that to keep visitors interested and coming back for more.

    Good luck.

Lot of things said and done about it, but i personally feel that it may work for some time only. It may not be a constant flow of traffic, which is much more important.

It may be a one shot job, in the long run you should go for things that stick and should not die down once the heat is over.

If you're talking about the kind of traffic that promises you something like, "10,000 real visitors for $20" I'd advise you to stay away from it. I've never heard of anyone making sales from this kind of traffic -I tried it myself years ago and never got any results. The one purpose it might be good for is to help your site's Alexa ranking, to show it's getting traffic, but that isn't really going to help you sell anything. I'd work more on promoting the blog. Get some good Wordpress plug-ins that help you get backlinks -I could suggest a few if you're interested. There are also blog networks such as Bloggers Base and Blog Engage that help you get more traffic for your blogs. Then there's social bookmarking, such as Reddit, Digg, etc... bookmark every post. Those are some good ways to get traffic to your blog.

I heard that buying traffic does work on one of the bst forums. Also having ad on a website full with a targeted audience could increase your targeted traffic

When you decide to get your feet wet with PPC, make sure to start with a second tier network first. You need practice and discipline when you are spending money to make money, and Adwords is not the place for anyone new.

What traffic volume are you getting and where are you getting your affiliates?
Since you said you were waiting on the first sale, I was wondering if you have
an issue with your sales page and conversions. Something to think about
    before paying for traffic.

Better to do the PPC right away. There's no guarantee for the traffic you buy will convert. The traffic seller can say it's targeting, but in reality, you don't know that.

i had success with buying banner ads.

for example, find a website that gets a LOT of traffic that's highly relevant to the offer or website you're trying to promote. Then buy a 1 month banner space on the site to test it out.

I suggest you buy targeted traffic by:

    - Buy MANUAL social bookmarking submission,
    - Buy high PR link directory,
    - buy high traffic related website links,
    - buy per month banner,
    - Buy article submission services.

Once you've got traffic and your site is fully optimize for Search Engine.
I believe you will get long term traffic instead buying Huge Load of 20.000 Traffics for $20 .

Trust me, it maybe take more time, But it will work well, I tried before.

While you're waiting for natural, organic SEO to kick in, don't be afraid of doing some media buys.

I like buysellads.com. Their network is really simple to place ads on, and you get loads of metrics to test click through rates and so forth. You pay on a monthly basis and can cancel your subscription to any ads after the 30 days are up. Just delete the non-performers and keep the ones that work.

I'm using them now to jump start a new site I'm very excited about. Usually I try to set up a lot of organic SEO before I launch a site, but this launch was so incredibly labor intensive, I just didn't have the brain cells left over to do much extra backlinking close to launch. So ad swaps with other webmasters, JV's and special sales, and my ad buys are bringing me business while this "baby" site gets up and rolling.

You have to really spend money to make money, sometimes! :)

(I'm not a fan of Adwords, though. They are punitive, crazy, and psychopathic in my opinion in how they discontinue ads or punish webmasters for not serving up the "right' kind of pages. Hey, I'm giving you money -- why are you complaining? :)

I've been having better luck with buying ads. the SEO can take so long. I just started buying Stumbleupon stumbles and saw traffic really skyrocket on a content site. It's only 5 cents a click and the traffic is staying on the site and viewing a lot of pages. I heard about paying for stumbles in an info product I bought and thought I'd give it a try. Thus far, it looks good.
@badger, psychopathic is a great description. In addition to getting the money, what really gets me is that when people click on an ad, it seems they'd expect to get to a site selling something (at least I do) not to get a "relevant" article or page.

Buying traffic from the likes of Adwords to make a profit has a learning curve, you can very quickly lose a lot of money and not make a dime, ensure first of all that your landing pages have a great quality score before increasing your ad spend

I also dislike Adwords , we need do more keyword research, more time in learning curve.
I already lose much money in Adwords.

But if your site has an Unique and less Competitive with other sites ,
I think you maybe can use Adwords.

It only depends on the quality of the traffic, the countries where the traffic comes from, and of course the sources of traffic.
