I've notice something new happening on the net that must still be in beta or not many sites are doing it. What I am seeing is sites are taking banner spots and splitting them in to small squares and selling the square to a person to place a jpg in that links to there site. After checking in to the price to get a square, it seems to be low enough for me even to try. I"ve seen the way they are doing this on css designers pages. So I know the way the are doing it is a new advertisement design. Anybody else seeing things like this out there?
trying not to push a site. Here a pic. When you mouse over the squares it gives a shadow box telling you where it goes to when you click it.
this is fresh news for me... i mean buying links on high traffic sites then splitting on to smaller sizes never ever heard of this kind... if you can share the url where you are seeing this kind of work done...? i am doubtful because sites are just allowing to place banner of some specific size how one could break that... need to see some links if you can share
I think your on about the million dollar pixel site clones - simply selling a small space and charging per pixel to add a link? That has been around for time now, but is over saturated.
Yah the first dude that came up with it years ago made a shit and shit and shit load of money off it....now; good luck.. If you think you can buy an ad space for on facebook(for example) and break it up like that, not gonna happen!!
Why does that remind me of that paid programming guy that kept telling people to buy "hundreds of tiny ads" in community newspapers and become rich selling whatever? Here's the Onion parody of it. http://www.theonion.com/content/node/30089
Very true. But imagine enlarging these squares to maybe 50x50 getting 20 in 100x50 banner spot and selling them for $10 for 2 weeks. (that's 400 a month off of 1 banner) that would make a site that has no traffic, feed off of yours to give them traffic and be cheap enough for a new site to do.
