hi there, i'm about to buy a website from flippa.com and i was wondering if the claimed age of the website be faked?For example,if the domain was registered one year ago,could the seller claim its one year old when infact the website is only 2 months old?
traffic and earnings could easily be faked. here is a website to check age: archive.org i would also use compete.com to check on traffic.
Well you can check all the details in chepgarnak.net too. However I dont think the age of the domain can be manipulated. Also traffic, the income and the pagerank can be faked very easily. Try checking in google too by simple methods of info: etc....
First you can go ahead and check if the seller has a past reputation in dealing with others, if that is positive then it can be a plus one. Second, you can lookup the domain on WHOIS. You can also have a look at Alexa. Also try and searching for the site on Google to see where that gets you. Obviously traffic figures can easily be faked, but if you take a look at three factors above topped with the buyers reputation, I think the transaction should be safe.
