I was wanting to get your opinion on .biz domains. I haven't seen them talked about much & was wondering how they would compare to others?

I would value .biz domain at 40-50% of .com domain and slightly lower then .net (but for .net it also depends on the nature of your project).

How would you compare a .biz to a .org, .info or .us in relation to the pricing in todays market?

.biz domains have potential and I think it'll be popular in the business filed in a few years.

I recently picked up my first .biz domain on EBay for a grand total of $.99. And not a bad one either - TradingStocks.biz. My guess is that one would have been more like a $100 on EBay with .com extension.

If it's a premium .biz name, try submitting it to www.GreatDomains.com . If they accept your name and you decide to list with them, you will have to sign a 6-month exclusivity agreement (can't sell your name anywhere else), and since GD hardly ever gets any sales, you probably won't sell your name.

However, getting an acceptance letter from GD can actually work as an Appraisal for the reseller's market. Mention that GD accepted the name, and most domainers know they have strict requirements, so the name might have potential.

I currently only own 2 .biz names. Grille.biz was accepted by GreatDomains, DubaiCity.biz will stay tucked away in my portfolio until someone decides to do something to revive the .biz market.

    Good luck!

I personally think it's a crappy extension. If I was to invest in it, the term would have to be suitable to the extension, not just anything, such as manufacturer.biz

From Answers.com. Commercial and Business definitions. Not very different, .com was here long before .biz, .com is far more established than any other TLD in the eyes of users and businesses.

    dnjournal.com/ytd-sales-charts.htm
Guess how many .biz sales made the top 100 chart last year for non com extension sales? A whopping.... Zero.

    Save your money.

.biz may not be a frequent contender on DNjournal, but if you take a look at NameBio.com's database of .biz sales, you can see that .biz isn't necessarily worthless. Only.biz went for $2000 recently. What does Only.biz mean? Nothing, really, but someone wanted it, and was willing to pay for it. I don't think the seller thinks .biz is worthless.

I see what your saying, but these are special instances where the seller HAD to have it. I think in most situations sellers would opt for more favourable extensions. Idunno, .biz just sounds so crappy to me for some reason, lacks credibility.

.biz domains have potential but I think they are not even closer to a .com (extension ) in terms of value

Thats VERY high. More like 5-20% max. They have SOME potential, but as a consumer I would rather buy from a .com site over a .biz.

I agree - .biz domains have some potential but it will take more time to get its full worth.
Also, .biz is supposed to be for a business purpose, not much sense muying any meaningless .biz domain.
Still any CCC.biz or NNN.BIZ is welcome.

to me, biz just sounds awkward... no customer would remember the *.biz extension so any advertisement would just go straight to the *.com domain.

.mobi certainly sounds just as awkward, yet sportsbook.mobi just sold for $xxx, xxx. Do you think the public would have a hard time remembering Sportsbook.mobi if they saw it on a TV commercial? Probably not. While I agree, there will be traffic sent to the .com, the majority will go to the .mobi, as long as it is marketed right. So, if there was a big billboard that said "Sell Homes, Make Money: Visit RealEstate.biz Today!, I'm sure people will notice.

Why would a ccc.biz or a nnn.biz be worthwhile... guess someone might have to own it, but is there is a specific reason? Or something to look for in the name.

BIZ or INFO or whatever other TLD are depended on the market awareness of the domain industry and the big companies that develop the popular sites

Can you tell me if in the near future 5 very popular sites like myspace launch at the net with .BIZ or .INFO how this will boost the registrations of similar TLD ?

It's just that everybody afraid to leave the solid solution of .com
Internet grew and based with .com and still can't let go
Even big companies now can't risk to loose the non educated user that thinks the .com is a default part of the name

The game is simple, the big guys lead and we follow
If they decide to stick in our mind the WHATEVER TLD they will do it
