Buying links, is it worth it?

I have been thinking about buying links from a link broker like texlinkbrokers.com. They have pg 5-6 links for 20-40$ per month. For me none of the links would generate any useful traffic as I run a hotel in Sweden and none of the links are going to generate sales for me. My site only have PR 2-3 (fluctuates a lot) right now and I have herd if you have one PR6 IBL you will get PR5. That seems exaggerated? My question is, is it worth the money to buy links from textlinkbrokers for the link value it self?

Is there any reliable way of checking future PR? Is PR really that important to SERP?

PR is not important, but links are. Working with companies like texlinkbrokers is definitely easy for most companies/people. However, since you are already here on DP, it might make sense to check the Buy Sales thread here on DP, and see if you can find some good deals. As you said "They have pg 5-6 links for 20-40$ per month.", I think u can find similar PR links for almost half the price here on DP.

Is there any danger to buying text links? I thought Google frowned upon this practice, no?

Yes and Matt Cutts gives some advice on how they view it. Here are some of his posts on the topic.

I have signed up for pyramid linking and i know mad4 is the creator so i would like to ask you a question. I see you sell rather affordable links there, $25 per year for a PR4. On what page will they be placed? If they are placed on a PR4 page with no other out going links it would be great value but if placed on a page with 100 outgoing links it would be of less value? Can i check the page out before i buy? Thanks.

The conventional logic says that it probably can't hurt you, otherwise your competitors would try to make it look like you were buying links to get you in trouble with G--it's something you aren't in control of as the site owner. That said, I do think that if purchased links are detected for NEW SITES there is a filter that gets triggered and makes the sandbox a slow and painful process.

    Just IMO

"They can't hurt you" in the sense that you won't be penalized per se by Google for buying the links. However, Cutts has been very clear that you also won't derive any benefit from those links. And since you're talking about buying from an outift called texlinkbrokers.com, I would guess that Google already knows about them.

My solution is just send the money to me. I promise I won't link back to your site. That way you satisfy your urge to throw money away and you get to stop worrying about whether Google will find out. :)

With a site like yours you would be much better paying to submit to directories and article sites and using your time to build good quality local links.

Local links are unbelievably valuable in ranking a site like yours.

I would only recommend to buy links from well established directories only. However you still can buy links from well established, high traffic sites for the purpose of traffic. Google basically how directories work, and is well aware many directories have paid submissions . eg. Yahoo Directory.

There are many future page rank checking tools out there but, none of those tools can tell you 100% accurate data. Only google knows.

Page rank has nothing to do with SERPS. But if you are a well established high PR website you can expect more traffic to your site, just only from fellow webmasters asking for link exchanges :D

If I buy links, it is not on a page with tons of other links.
I like to buy links only on main pages of sites, where there are few other links.
ANd yes, if you want to buy links like I do, use the link sales forum.
    Good deals there.

For google, this way, as my links are not shown in some link farm, or some interior page with a 100 other links, they will give me more weight and more credibility.
