Buying high PR links - Dangerous?

My product is in the health industry.

Its very niche, and i've been able to get top 1-4 rankings for a term.

But I want to rank for another term.

When analyzing my backlinks via google, i have 2000+ backlinks, but most are Directory Submissions with 0 PR.

I have a few PR4s, and a few PR3s, PR2s, etc. holding my main terms up and probably helping me rank well.

:: What I am wondering is this:

Will buying ~10 PR4 backlinks from medical blogs, etc. for terms I want to rank for be a risky endeavor?

Will this backlinks help me significantly in my niche, since I am ranking #1 for many of my terms with very little strong backlinking?

It may help, but it depends on how fast you acquire these links compared to the rest of your link building activities. It is not very risky as the worst that will happen is that the links won't count. I would do this very gradually though. If the low PR links are working, you may want to stick with that strategy.
