Buying high PR domains for SEO purposes

    Hi,

I want to start my own network of high PR sites as it's a strategy that seems to be very effective for my competitors, they are buying high PR domains (not taking into account the domain name) and then converting the site into a few pages with articles that link to their main sites.

Does anyone else use this strategy and where is a good place to buy expired high PR domains?

This method works out. But choosing domains that were relevant to your niche will be the best one's to choose and develop. Please do not just make them as a site with 10 posts and one side bar link back to your site, try to make them as legible as possible. You should take care of hosting at different I.P's (100 back links to single website from a single I.P will not be good), different Who.is, different hosting or different name servers are important things to be considered.

You can purchase them at Go-daddy auctions. I however have a service who provide me the domains, WordPress design, SEO IP hosting , 35 original contents(few will be set to drip feed) per site and they almost manage it. I pay them 70$ per link and it has been safe for almost 3 years. If you do not over link from a site and follow the few tips (there are many more i believe), it is an effective method.

Edit: I forgot to add that the only link on the sites will be mine and i do not in any case sell back links from them.

Would this mean I'd have to buy multiple hosting plans or can you host sites under different IP's on the same server?

    HI Nathan,
First having multiple I.P's is itself not a stead fast rule, but it is just a safety measure as we are doing some thing the SE's do not like :)

I would suggest (just my own opinion) that you do it on a case by case basis. If I need just some 20 back links in total for a low competition Keyword, it is okay (again IMO) to have them from a same server but different I.P's. But there were situations when some of my clients need 200+ Back links every month. In that case i go for a multiple server multiple I.P.

For me my service provider takes care of it, by providing a mix of I.P's from different servers. I would suggest you to form a network with SEO friends and then share the IP costs.

You can find different cheap shared hosting at webhostingtalk. Getting domains that's relevant to your niche/keyword is really hard, way to hard. What you can do is find domains that can be a general blog or if your into gadgets, you can make the domains to be a tech blog. As long as you setup the site to be related to your niche. Just be creative. Besides, most IMers like us with our own private network are small fry, as long as we don't post the domains or offer services on public, I think we are safe from google targeting us.

buying website for SEO purposes is no longer effective because there are lots of chance to buy already penalized website although its showing high PR but useless.

That is why we check the backlink profile of the domains. What type of links the domain have, the anchor text (if it's not over optimized with money keywords), typing domain name w/out tld if shows first in google, some metrics like DA/PA/TF and etc.... If you know how to choose these expiring domains, they are still very effective and one of the most powerful link building one can have.
Edit: Unfortunately, there are a lot of sellers here selling junk pr domains. So be careful and know how to choose. Just do a google search about this stuff and try it and it will change your mind.

Yes, just be sure that the domain you are going to buy has a REAL PR and was NOT banned/suspended by Google now or BEFORE an year for example! But also, this with converting the site to a few articles and link to main website... Not really sure, I also think that even 301 redirects would work much better... :)
