Does anyone have any tips on how to buy expiring domains? I was waiting for a domain to expire about a month ago, and it eventually did. But on the same day, someone beat me to registering it. I need some tips to prevent this.
I will send positive rep if I find your post useful.

You must have an application or online account to allow you see how many days/hours or minutes remaining before it expires. (register compass and the like)

As for tips, maybe this can help: Tips on Buying Expired Domains

I guess I can help you with this. A couple of years ago I only use to own Sapphiro.net and not the .com extention of it.
It was built as a personal blog one year and the next year a domain parking company manage to reg that domain name before I did.

I only manage to reg it the very hour it was deleted 1 year later with the help of pool.com, so make sure you use it. ;)

    Here's the tip:
From what I know, domain names are deleted approx 2 months after expiring, so you should start searching for it on pool.com about 90 days after expiring.
Your domain name will appear on pool.com just a couple of days before it's deleted, pool.com will tell you it's exact deletion date. :)

I suppose that you can always contact the Registrant and ask him to sell the domain.
You can check the information in Whois lookup and then contact him/her.

dont bother, it's the wrong business formula.
if you wanna buy some domains use the superbowl
promo code to get tons of .co domains that end
with the letter "o" such as 'milko.co' or 'moovies.co'
if its still available. well moovies.co is gone i just checked
    now.

    try like..

    reado.co
    writo.co
    creamo.co

stuff like that you might be able to promote
    and sell

but expired domains are very hard to sell because
they get filtered out by 1000's of people and
companies until it is left in the garbage for somebody
    else to pick up.

they have very advanced programs that monitor domains
    that are about to expire.

they even go as far as using PYTHON to execute things
to verify expiring domain's value 0.00001 second faster
in order to purchase it because it looks like somebody else
might be interested in it soon.

that business belongs to a company who figured a way
to turn $10 into $11 and still make enough money due to
    high levels of automation.

Take a look at the script in my signature to find expired domain names.List if updated daily.

    http://cachelogic.net/demo/

I would recommend using pool.com to backorder domain names. From all the service I have tried,pool.com seems to be most effective. However, it is on of the most expensive as well.
