I've found a domain that is expiring soon, I've read that there is a period of grace after the expiry. How long from the date of expiration till I can go and purchase the name. thanks Dan
Almost every .com is re-registered the split-second that it becomes available. The same applies to the majority of .net and .org, and also other extensions to a smaller extent. This is the result of big companies that temporarily register every domain to test for traffic, if it has traffic then they'll keep it and if not then they'll drop it within 7 days - often to be immediately picked up by another big company for testing. If you really want the domain, you should try to backorder it using a service like Pool.com or SnapNames.com (to increase your chances, use BOTH). They will try to register it in the split-seconds that it's available, before the other companies - sometimes they'll succeed and sometimes not. If they don't get it for you, you pay nothing. If you do get it, you'll generally pay around $60. See the sites for full details. http://Pool.com http://SnapNames.com Good Luck!
http://googlesuccess.com/ban_checker.html Give that a whirl. Some people actually find there expiring domain has inbound links already & regular visitors...very very lucky if this is the case
