do you guys feel this has any worth, say i buy a domain with a lot of good back links but its been out of commission for a year give or take. i put the site back up from the wayback machine archive. the whois info changes to my site. the site does get indexed. but so far no pagerank has returned and it still ranks shitty. what are your thoughts on this people???
If it has PR, and still functional good backlinks, you just need to start a whole new link building campaign for what you are trying to rank, and you'll definatly have a boost from the domain age and PR.
I think that buying domains with PR isn't worthless, maybe it's PR will get lower after first update, but it can't be hard to make it back again within another PR update.
Is it possible to Buy expired domains with Link just to give to a main site? I mean could you host them on a few different IP's and link back to a main site as well (link farm). Do you think this would work as well ?
if you can find a site with lot of backlinks, then it might worth it to buy the site. however, usually for dropped domains, the backlinks are lost over time and the PR is not sustained over the course of next couple of updates. if you buy a domain and build a related site, you might be able to retain some backlinks
I agree with sultan. Your backlinks will only be effective if you are creating a website like the one before you bought the domain.
PR doesn't pay the bills. Ranking in and of itself is good if it drives traffic. But I don't focus on links for PR, I focus on links for traffic. So any time I find a worthwhile site with quality incoming links for sale I'd consider buying it. As long as the traffic is good it doesn't matter to me if it comes from other sites or Google or wherever.
Like Intermarketingiq, PR is good on an aged domain because when you start, youll have decent traffic comming in. Then having to start all the way from scratch. What i would do if i got an aged domain, is make a goal to do some SEO work once a week at least to at least Maintain. Then when you get enough money try using adwords.
My only main interesting on Expired Domain with PR is Age of the Domain name and it must not baned by Google or any SEs. We can start the whole link building again and would easily raised
If the backlink is strong, then it worth. Those domain with tons of non-quality backlink is not worth
There are schools of thought (I'm in that school) that believe Google knows when a site has been bought and changed hands. If you start messing with it and trying to change the content dramatically you could find yourself in a temporary rankings bar similar to a sandbox-type effect.
