I wanted to take a domain but which was already registered by somebody. When look at the whois information I found that domain registration is already expired but I want unable to register it as it is saying the domain is already taken. But this domain is already expired I think I should be able to register it...the following is the what I got from whois info.

    Creation date: 29 May 2004 10:51:31
    Expiration date: 29 May 2008 10:51:31

can you please suggest me what can I do to register this domain name as it is already expired on may?
Any suggestion or help will be greatly appreciated....

well the domain is probably under redemption period

Any domain that expires has a redemption period(a period where the owner has the option to renew it)

so, a new registrar can only register that domain after that redemption period is over

Will back-ordering it through, let's say Godaddy, going to help to make sure that you get the first option when the redemption period lapses? Or it doesn't work like that?

If you backorder it, which ever company you back order it with will try and nab it as soon as it becomes available.
