Buying domains on DP

I'm used to ebay and sitepoint auctions where the domain is transferred after the sale. Are auctions here different?

I won an auction and all I received was the username and password to login. The domain ownership stays with the original owner. At least that's how the seller put it.

My thinking is what good is a domain if you don't own it? I may as well go to blogger or squidoo and get a free account.

Am I missing something? It was a PR 3 auction , but I assumed the domain would exchange hands.

    Thanks

That's a little strange. The usual procedure is for the seller to transfer it to you after they receive payment.

Yeah that's what I thought. If it's not under my name I have no control over it. But he's asking me what's my problem? like this is normal, on DP anyway.

    Thanks
