    Hi,

I am planning to buy an expired domain. Is there any advantages or disadvantages ?

I am also planning to implement Adsense or YPN code on that.

    Please suggest.

Expired domains are more expencive :(
Try another extention .info instead of .com, it will be much cheaper.

Anyway i dont have experience with buying expired domains
    Good luck!

Other than getting a name you want and maybe a few backlinks that are out there somewhere I can think of no advantage.

The age of the domain will reset when buy it so it will be treated as a new domain.

Make sure the domain has not been banned by Google or Yahoo if you plan to use them on the site. I think you can work around this if you already have a pub code. It does take a little time.

Check the wayback machine to see how it may have been used in the past.

I did not know the answer. I went looking and found this info on another site.

What is intersting is the way google displays banned domains versus unregistrered/no-content domains. Here is what is says when you search for "domain.com" if it is banned:
Sorry, no information is available for the URL domain.com
    * Find web pages that contain the term "domain.com"

And here is how it looks if not banned:
Sorry, no information is available for the URL domain.com
    * If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: domain.com
    * Find web pages that contain the term "domain.com"

Complete text of the post can be read at: webmasterworld.com/forum25/2664.htm

I don't know if the info is accurate or not.

If you want to pursue this use this google link search:

    google.com/search?hl=en&q=google+%2B%22banned+domains%22

Some guru at the warrior forum told me to look at the google toolbar, if it is grayed out the site is either not indexed yet or banned.

I look for forgotten rather than expired. Expired is usually a domain that someone felt was not useful. The forgotten are gems and can give great backlinks. Both the same thing, but there is clearly a difference.

Forgotten as in the domain owner overlooked/forgot to renew it and the domain becoming available for anyone to register.

If you buy a expired domain,no one knows if the domain has been blocked by Adsense or YPN.
