If i were to buy a domain that has a page rank of 5 and used it to go to my new site which is completly different from the original, would the page rank fall automatically on the next update? cos i read some stories about that

    Thanks

Maybe, if the site turns to crap and people stop visiting and drop their backlinks to you it will fall. If you do well with the site then it will be fine.

It depends on several things.. the biggest of which is if the PR is legit, or faked. Try the name on a PR verification tool..

I Believe if the domain drops fully (showing an initial registration date that's current, and not the original several year old date) that it loses PR as well.

It's easy to know if the PR will dropped. Check it's backlinks from Google, and Yahoo. From there you will get a clear picture on how much is the strength of the PR you're planning to buy. ;)
