    Hi guys

I just have a quick question about buying domain names.

What should I look for when buying a domain name.

I have been looking at this site http://www.expireddomains.net/

can't wait to see what everyone has to say

    thanks

The very basic things you should look for when choosing the right domain name are:
    Brandability:
    • TLD - always try to get the .com
    • is it brandable - does it have the potential to become a valuable brand over time
    • is it pronounceable
    • is it short enough
    • how related is it to your content
    SEO:
    • does it contain the keywords you are after
    • does it already have a PR
    • does it have any bans or penalties
    • has it been registered before

If you started like this you started wrong. All the forums follow 1 rule.First you do alot of reading , use google , read more, use google again, read more and then you post a thread on a forum asking 1 million questions.Domain business is a complicated one and alot of factors work toghether to make a good domain name.My advice for you before you register a domain name you should ask yourself 1 question "Why is this domain name availble?".Like you said you are using expireddomains, you should ask yourself "Why did anyone left this domain to expire?" "...if its such a good name"
This 2 questions you have to ask yourself 1st.Domain names are valueable assets and the "good" and "decent" ones get picked-up in about 10 seconds after they get dropped.Anyway just my 2 cents on what you asked would be ,
    1.must be short
    2.must be readable,pronounceble
    3.must not be a treademark
and 4 and the most important one is STICK TO .COM
    don't register any other extension.
    Good luck!

Except the things mentioned above you should look how many times the domain was dropped.

You can start by learning how to use google. If you type those same questions on google you will get the answer. If you are too lazy to do that, then i`m too lazy to answer you.Atleast use the search here on DP

Metrics that you should look for
    1. PR
    2. Moz Domain Authority
    3. Majestic Seo Citation and Trust Flow
    4. Total referring domains (check both moz and Maj Seo)

    Things to manually check
    1. Anchor text distribution (using Majestic Seo or Ahrefs) - check if there are too many scammy anchor texts
    2. Back Links - see if back links are contextual (in the middle of text), blog roll (with a bunch of other links) or from comments (comment spam)
    3. Use two commands in google "info:domainname.tld" and "site:domainname.tld". If the first shows zero results (or the result shows a different domain) then the domain has been forwarded to another domain and its metrics are fake. If the second one shows zero results, its possible that the domain was banned and de-indexed by google

    Hope this helps.
    Niki
