i dont know if this is the right place to post this and if this post is against the rules, i dont believe it is, i do apologize. i am planning on buying a domain name on the 1st of december and i wanted to know a good company to go through. as of right now i am planning on going through godaddy.com i know of them from their flashy and semi provocative commercials so its the first thing that pops in my mind. funny how i was susceptible to their marketing technique :p anways, does anyone have anything to say about godaddy.com or does anyone have recommendations on certain companies that sell web domains. thanks!

    hi
godaddy is a fine place to buy your domain name. No problem there... prices are comparable everywhere.

You should buy from namecheap.com or namesilo.com
Don't buy from Godaddy. You may get problem in future.
People have mass moved their domains from Godaddy to other registrars.

In the past, I always used GoDaddy, but now I have my domains split between DynaDot.com (cheap "privacy") and internetbs.net (free privacy). I prefer their interfaces to GoDaddy for managing my domains.

We all know GoDaddy as the world’s largest domain name provider. They already own more than 50 million domain names and this number is increasing day by day (http://www.websitemagazine.com/cont...-daddy-registers-50-million-domain-names.aspx).

GoDaddy’s advertising is weird as they often use blatantly sexist advertising on their site.As an example, the following links can be viewed:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8WjYH8KuOao

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4igYHZ-hmGo&feature=relmfu

    http://www.macgasm.net/2011/12/26/godaddy-sexist-sopa-supporters-are-suffering/

Their superbowl commercials involving scantily clad women in racy situations are considered offensive for many users.A lot of customers simply switch web hosting providers in protest of the support for SOPA, fearing that it would harm websites whose content is user generated.

Should the customers believe that after ordering hosting from GoDaddy, our site will suddenly be sexy and attract a lot of traffic?

I've used LuckyRegister. I've done a lot of comparisons and so far LuckyRegister is cheapest...no problems encountered so far.
