Buying Computer Hardware

I'm not really a computer gamer, but for some reason I like buying high end computer parts: graphics cards, processors, etc.

I think I fried another motherboard/processor today, and I'm going to go shopping for some new goodies tomorrow, but I only have $20 in bank accounts and $800 credit limit on credit cards heh. Any suggestions?

Do you think having high end components helps your Internet productivity? Fast/lots of ram and a fast processor help with Photoshop/movie editing, but I am not sure if my graphics card is doing too much.

How much do you spend on computer hardware per year? I probably spend about $2000.

No. I think a high speed connection, a nice monitor, and nice work environment are the most important things.

I'm still running an old Athlon 2500 with 1gb ram, and don't plan on upgrading anything for at least another 2 years. I've reached a nice workable plateau -
I litererally spent ZERO dollars in the last year on my PC. My current PC happily runs CS2, Dreamweaver, and pretty much any software I can throw at it.

You only need a top end computer if you plan on playing games or video rendering/multimedia stuff. If you don't do these things you really don't need that much in terms of power.
