Another helpful piece of advice for struggling affiliates.. Buy Banners! The process is easy... Get your affiliate link from clickbank, and either build a header redirect page, or a presell page. Whatever you decide.. Whip up some good banners, and Google the market for related sites selling banner space.. I am doing this with 3 different sites that are proving to be profitable. Find the sites which have decent targeted traffic and are charging cheap rates. Stay clear of the expensive ones. Watch your stats and see which banners are pulling profit, and which ones are breaking even.. If there pulling profit for 2 months straight, lock in to a "Bulk Deal" buy buying multiple months for less! If it breaks even, or comes close to breaking even, try modifying your banner, colors, presell page to convert better.. If it's losing 25% or more, just dump the site.. It's much safer than using Adwords, and all you got to lose is $40 for that month.. It won't break you if it fails, but if it makes $$$, the process can be repeated indefinitely..
It's definitely a strong technique.. I just closed a deal with another site for a banner spot 1/2 hour ago.. It's great because even if I make only 1-2 sales a month from that banner, I'm in profit.. I received some PM's asking how to find these sites that sell banner space.. Just go to google and search for: keyword + advertising rates
I've had a lot of trouble getting a profit back using AdBrite & AVN/BlackLabelAds ... I guess it's just a matter of testing enough banners with enough websites and finding the ones that work. I think in general I end up overpaying for results with them though.
You're right, it wasn't that profitable in the beginning, but I just felt it would work somehow so I stuck with it. Took me about couple of weeks (or was it a month) before I found the right site to advertise on.
Me Too. I haven't really given them much thought up until now. But with a few people here reporting good results from them, I figure it's worth a shot. What I like about it is that you are not competing head to head with people in PPC... What I don't like about it is that it seems to be a bit of work finding banner/website combination that gives you a good ROI.
